An Original Vintage Linenbacked World War II War Bonds Poster (measures 18 1/2" x 24 3/4") (Learn More)

Buy War Stamps & Bonds, the 1942 U.S. World War II (WWII) War Bonds poster ("Lexington, 1775 They fought for Freedom We fight to keep it"; "Independence July 4, 1776 They kept the faith and so do you every time you lend a dime for War Savings Stamps"; "John Paul Jones said: 'I have not yet begun to fight'"; "Fight with war stamps & bonds"; "Washington crossed the Delaware to win our freedom, we cross oceans to keep it!") encouraging the public to invest in war stamps and war bonds. Note that this poster features great art of two different colonial leaders John Paul Jones and George Washington in battle, and above them were a scene of Lexington and Concord, and a scene of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. There were dotted lines around the four images, and these were intended to be trimmed into separate posters, but certainly some people kept the poster untrimmed!
Artist: James Henry Daugherty
Important Added Info: Note that this poster is half of the original poster (see above) that has been trimmed and it now measures 18 1/2" x 24 3/4".

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. This poster is half of the original poster that has been trimmed and it now measures 18 1/2" x 24 3/4" (but the half of the poster that remains works as a poster, and of course, it could be cut in half to make two posters). Other than being cut in half, the poster had some faint smudges in the white background areas. The poster was backed onto a thin linen backing with no excess. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept that it is half of the original poster!
