An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) 'Twas Ever Thus, the 1915 Elsie Janis silent history-of-romance comedy ("A romance of the ages") starring Elsie Janis (billed as "The International Star"; she wrote and directed this, and she also stars in all the separate segments which detail how romance changed over many years), Hobart Bosworth, Owen Moore, Myrtle Stedman, and Harry Ham. Note that this was an incredibly ambitious movie from star/director Elsie Janis, in that it had a caveman segment, a Civil War segment, and a "modern times" segment, which required much costuming and set design for the first two segments. It seems likely that D.W. Griffith saw this movie and was inspired by it to make "Intolerance", which had a similar structure, and which came out the following year. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good.
