An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 180 pages) (Learn More)

Lo Sbarco di Anzio (released in the U.S. as "Anzio" and in other English-speaking countries as "The Battle for Anzio"), the 1968 Edward Dmytryk French/Italian/Spanish/U.S. World War II (WWII) military action thriller ("Anzio! ...where all roads lead to Rome!"; "Anzio!... Where the end of World War II began!"; "Off-shore... The invasion fleet. The American and British invading force. The hardware of war. On shore... Who knew what!"; "From the book by Wynford Vaughan-Thomas") starring Robert Mitchum, Peter Falk, Earl Holliman, Mark Damon, Reni Santoni, Thomas Hunter, Anthony Steel, Wayde Preston, Giancario Gianni, Elsa Albani, Arthur Kennedy (billed as "with Arthur Kennedy"), and Robert Ryan (billed as "Special Guest Star Robert Ryan as General Carson")

Important Added Info: Note that this script is the "first draft" of a movie called "Anzio" (as noted in pen on the cover of this script), but we don't know if it is an early version of the movie that was released in 1968, or if it was never produced, and the 1968 movie has a different script (obviously, someone familiar with the movie would be able to tell by comparing this script to what was shown on the screen). Also note that the writers are not credited on this but that the movie credits H.A.L. Craig. Note that this item comes from the estate of Paul Kohner, who as an agent for hundreds of actors, writers, directors, etc., was constantly sent scripts to "pitch" to his clients or to the studios, and therefore we are 100% certain that this is an original script created at the time it was written. Kohner had a remarkable life! Kohner was born in Czechoslovakia in 1902, and he was a journalist working at his father's newspaper. He came to Hollywood after interviewing Carl Laemmle, who gave him a job as a publicity man. He became the head of Universal's European department in Berlin, and returned to the U.S. in the early 1930s, and left Universal in 1938, becoming a publicity agent. Among his clients were some of the greatest film stars ever, including Greta Garbo, Ingrid Bergman, and also great directors such as John Huston and Billy Wilder. He had close personal friendships with many of his clients, and he saved every bit of correspondence and paper work from his agency! He was married to actress Lupita Tovar from 1932 until his death in 1988. Amazingly, after his death, few institutions showed interest in his immense files, and only a small amount ended up being saved, with a lot literally thrown away! Our consignor purchased the item offered here from Mr. Kohner's estate in 1989, and he has held it until now, when he has consigned several items from Mr. Kohner's estate to eMoviePoster.com, and each item is being auctioned separately.

Condition: good to very good. The over-sized covers are darkened and tattered at the top and bottom, but the interior pages are in pretty nice condition.
