Hoyt silent fantasy dinosaur adventure thriller ("The World's Wonder Film"; "The greatest drama of adventure and romance your eyes ever have beheld."; "See gigantic pre-historic monsters clash with modern lovers in The Lost World"; "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stupendous story"; "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stupendous story"; with great special effects by Willis H. O'Brien who is billed as "Research and Technical Director") starring Bessie Love, Lewis Stone, Wallace Beery (as Professor George Edward Challenger, the protagonist from a series of Doyle stories), Lloyd Hughes, Alma Bennett, and Bull Montana (as the Ape-man). Note that when the producer/director team of Ernest B. Schoedsack and Merian C. Cooper (who had made several acclaimed documentaries in remote areas of the world) were looking to make a fantasy movie set on a mythical island with a giant gorilla, they remembered the special effects from "The Lost World", and hired Willis O'Brien to do the special effects for their new movie, "King Kong"! "The Lost World" was O'Brien's first feature film, and he used the exact same stop-motion techniques of special effects that made "King Kong" so memorable. Note that the one-sheet poster for "The Lost World" shows an image of Wallace Beery pointing at a map of Africa, and there are NO special effects pictured on the poster. But the window card has a wonderful image of a dinosaur trampling on the residents of a city, and is THE poster to own from this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release lobby cards from this classic early Willis O'Brien movie are extremely rare. In the mid 1980s, Bruce Hershenson made a "find" of a complete set of these cards (including the "artwork" title card), and other than those cards and a few others that have surfaced over the years, there are next to none known! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card had pinholes around the edges, with some tiny bits of paper loss in the left three-quarters of the top blank border, with greater paper loss in the right 3" of the top blank border, slightly extending into the top right of the image. Someone performed restoration to the right of the top border by gluing paper to the back of that area, but otherwise, they did no restoration to the card. It can certainly be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one might choose to have more modern restoration performed, likely with gel backing the card.
