An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Ian Fleming's Thunderball, the 1965 Terence Young English James Bond 007 secret agent spy espionage fantasy action adventure thriller ("L007k up! L007k down! L007k out!"; "Here comes the biggest Bond of all!"; "Based on the original story by Kevin McClory, Jack Whittingham and Ian Fleming") starring Sean Connery (as James Bond 007), Claudine Auger, (as Domino) Adolfo Celi (as Largo), Luciana Paluzzi, Rik Van Nutter, Martine Beswick, Guy Doleman, Molly Peters, Bernard Lee (as "M"), Lois Maxwell (as Miss Moneypenny), Desmond Llewellyn (as "Q"), Paul Stassino, Bob Simmons, and Rose Alba NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Robert McGinnis & Frank McCarthy Important Added Info: Note that there are THREE variations of this "look up! look down! look out!" style of one-sheet that are all original to 1965! There are two that look identical except for the reversal of the producer credits (this was done on almost all Bond movies, so that Broccoli and Saltzman could each come first in "half" the world!). But the third variation has completely different placement of the NSS information at the bottom, PLUS the top of Connery's tank at the top center of the poster has been cropped so that it doesn't extend past the border. Plus the artwork in the middle section is cropped differently. ALL THREE OF THESE POSTERS ARE ORIGINAL TO 1965, AND AS FAR AS WE KNOW, COLLECTORS VALUE THEM EQUALLY! We have no idea why this extra variation was created, but we do know that, when the movie was re-released in the early 1980s (perhaps 1980), the "cropped tank" variation artwork was used for that one-sheet. The poster offered here is definitely the 1965 one-sheet with the "uncropped tank"! Condition: good. There was a piece of tape on the right of the top border extending down into the very top of Connery's hair, and it was roughly removed, causing both surface paper loss where the tape was and a tear above that area in the top blank border (the tear has caused the surface paper to separate from the paper beneath it, but there is no paper loss). There was a similar piece of tape in the left of the top border that only extended to the green border, and it was also removed and caused a much lesser amount of surface paper loss. There are pieces of masking tape scattered in all the other 3 borders and some areas of surface paper loss and tape staining around the edges of the poster where the tape was roughly removed. There are diamond shaped light creases at the top and bottom crossfolds and in the left and right of the middle foldline and in the top corners. While this poster has very real defects, most of them are in the borders, and after linenbacking by a talented restorer, the poster will look great and it will only require paint restoration in the part Connery's hair (as noted above)!
