(Ray Vaughn) Pierce which promised that it was "of unsurpassed efficacy, combined in such a manner, that, while it quiets nervous irritation, it strengthens the enfeebled nervous system, restoring it to healthful vigor. In all diseases involving the female reproductive organs, with which there is usually associated an irritable condition of the nervous system, it is unsurpassed as a remedy. It is also a uterine and general tonic of great excellence.". The stated ingredients were lady's slipper root, black cohosh root, unicorn root, blue cohosh root, Oregon grape root, and viburnum. It is claimed that opium was an important ingredient up until the early 1900s. Important Added Info: This was an ad that was shown along with coming attraction glass slides between movies at a 1910s movie theater. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good to fine.
