An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Tovarich, the 1937 Anatole Litvak France/Russia royalty romantic comedy ("--tonight's our night!"; "Adapted from the play by Jacques Deval"; "English version by Robert E. Sherwood"; about a Russian couple who flee to France with a vast fortune during the Russian Revolution; but they choose to work as personal servants, because the money is to be used to restore the Russian monarchy!) starring Claudette Colbert, Charles Boyer, Basil Rathbone, Anita Louise, Melville Cooper, Isabel Jeans, Morris Carnovsky, and Victor Kilian. Note that this was a famous French play that was turned into a French movie in 1935, and then the rights to it were bought by Warner Bros. in 1937. This was a movie where Claudette Colbert fought continuously with the director over her solely being filmed from one profile, and she wanted the cinematographer fired, but the director refused, and Colbert added to her reputation for being difficult to work with and for being incredibly sensitive to only being filmed from one side!
