An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Autographed Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Ride the High Country (released in other English-speaking countries as "Guns in the Afternoon"), the classic 1962 Sam Peckinpah (directing his second big screen movie ever!) cowboy western ("Showdown in the High Sierras with the girl and the gold for the first to draw!"; "Showdown in the High Sierra!"; "In CinemaScope and Metrocolor"; about an ex-lawman who's hired to transport gold from the mountains and he hires an old friend to help him but the friend double-crosses him) starring Randolph Scott, Joel McCrea, Mariette Hartley, Ron Starr, Edgar Buchanan, James Drury, Warren Oates, and R.G. Armstrong. Note that this movie was excellent, thanks to the fine writing of Sam Peckinpah. But what really elevates it into being a classic of its kind is the inspired casting of two real life 1930s cowboy stars as the tired old stars of the movie. What is even more interesting is that originally the two stars were playing the opposite roles, but at some point early in production, Scott and McCrea realized they were better suited to playing the other role, and so they switched parts! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this half-sheet has been personally autographed (signed) by star actor Joel McCrea! Our consignor personally sent this half-sheet to Joel McCrea in the early 1980s, and McCrea signed it and returned it. We feel 100% certain that it is an authentic autograph! Also note that this poster was machine folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. There is some faint staining (likely water stains) down the center of the poster, in the several inches to the right of the vertical foldline. There are pinholes, creases, and smudges around the edges of the poster. The poster has never had any restoration on the front or back, not even any tape! Learn More about condition grades
