An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Alien, the classic 1979 Ridley Scott English/U.S. science fiction (sci-fi) space monster horror action thriller ("In space no one can hear you scream."; "a word of warning..."; "Story by Dan O'Bannon & Ronald Shusett") starring Tom Skerritt (as Dallas), Sigourney Weaver (as Ripley), Veronica Cartwright (as Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (as Brett), John Hurt (as Kane), Ian Holm (as Ash), Yaphet Kotto ("as Parker"), and Bolaji Badejo (in the title role as the Alien). Note that fantasy artist H.R. Giger did the wonderful art that was used to create the alien and the alien planet, but his art was not used on any of the regular posters, only on special prints created after the movie became a hit! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Steve Frankfurt & Philip Gips Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had minor wear on the folds and in the borders. Our consignor sent this poster to a linenbacking company that had just started, and they asked if our consignor would send one poster "as a test". He sent this Alien poster, and they returned it linenbacked, but it now has a shiny coating over it that is similar to what is on a laminated lobby card, except that it is solely on the poster's surface and not the excess, and it does not keep the poster from being rolled. It appears to have been applied in "sheets" to the poster, because there are two sections to it. We have no idea what this process is, and we don't know if it is in any way reversible, but we would doubt it. The poster looks pretty nice, but it is extremely bright and shiny, like your car looks after you have it waxed, and it reflects light differently than a regular poster does. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept this unusual method of restoration and have read the above carefully, and have also looked at our super-sized image!
