8 Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

Chelsea Girls, the 1966 Paul Morrissey & Andy Warhol New York City art house avant-garde melodrama (the film follows various residents of the legendary Chelsea Hotel in 1966 New York City, presented in a split screen with a single audio track in conjunction with one side of screen) starring Brigid Berlin, Randy Borscheidt, Christian Paffgen, Angelina 'Pepper' Davis, Dorothy Dean, Nico, Edie Sedgwick, International Velvet, and Mary Woronov. Note that the first release poster for this movie is as famous or more famous than the movie itself. It has an image created by Alan Aldridge that incorporates a very sexy naked girl with portions of the Chelsea Hotel, and is extremely "eye catching". Andy Warhol was extremely happy with the design, and he said he "wished the movie was as good as the poster"!

Important Added Info: Note that first release movie paper from this film is incredibly rare! This group of stills were consigned to us by a man who worked at Greenwich Village New York City cinemas in the late 1960s and was wise enough to collect some memorabilia from the first showing of cult movies, and we are sure these stills are from the very first release of this cult classic! We have previously auctioned a single group of four stills, until we were consigned this group of eight stills (which includes those previous four, but also includes four which we have never auctioned before)! This extreme rarity is not surprising, because this was a controversial "arthouse" movie that surely did not play in many theaters. Also note that we have pictured the backs of these stills (see our images).

Condition: good to very good. The still pictured at upper left has surface paper loss at upper center. The art still pictured at upper right has tiny dot stains at lower center and the one third at right has tiny paper loss at upper center. The rare stills have a few light creases and scuffs but are otherwise in pretty nice condition!
