A 1972 Re-Release Folded Special Movie Poster (measures 29 3/4" x 46 1/4" [76 x 117 cm]) (Learn More) Reefer Madness, the 1936 Louis J. Gasnier marijuana marihuana pot weed drug thriller ("Marijuana drugs, Weed from the Devil's garden!"; "One moment of bliss, a lifetime of regret!"; "Hunting a thrill, they inhaled a drag of concentrated sin!"; "Wake up America! Here's a roadside weed that's fast becoming a national high-way!"; "Women cry for it, men die for it!"; "What actually happens!"; "Never before such exciting frankness"; "A Daring Theme!"; "Dope-created ecstasy avalanching into frightful perversions"; "Makes Beasts of Men & Women"; "Adults only") starring Dave O'Brien, Dorothy Short, Carlton Young, Kenneth Craig, and Lillian Miles. Note that drug and mature movies like these were extremely popular in "late night" showings at small town theaters throughout the 1940s, and they were often re-issued and re-named multiple times. In the case of this movie, it was re-issued under titles such as "The Burning Question" and "Tell Your Children", each time with lurid images and taglines! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Bob Price Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 29 3/4" x 46 1/4" [76 x 117 cm]. We are not certain what this poster is! It probably was designed like a "subway poster" (and it measures close to the measurements of a normal half subway, which is 29" x 45"). It actually measures slightly larger and was clearly trimmed in the top and bottom blank areas. It differs from the one-sheet we have seen for this 1972 re-release in that it has a "Copyright Roninfilm 1972" at bottom right, while the one-sheet has a tiny "Printed in U.S.A.", and it also has a review tagline from Kevin Saunders of ABC TV. Since this was consigned to us from a man who worked at New York City theaters at this time, we think it is likely that the specific theater that was showing this movie in New York City printed up this poster after they got the review from ABC TV, and therefore, it may be one of a kind, or it is surely one of very few that were created, and likely the only one that survives. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: good to very good. The poster had some blank white paper trimmed from the top and bottom (see above). It has staple holes in the corners. Learn More about condition grades
