An Original Vintage Souvenir Book (measures 9" x 12" [23 x 30 cm]; 28 pages) (Learn More)

The Hollywood, the 1934 souvenir book featuring Murray Korman drawings and photographs. In 1934, the Hollywood Cabaret Restaurant showed a lobby exhibit of Murray Korman's portraits of Hollywood showgirls (several topless or almost nude), and this is the souvenir book which was published in response to many requests from authors, publishers, and individuals to make images of the portraits available. "The Hollywood" was an amazing restaurant in New York City that seated 1,000 diners! It was started by Joe Moss, a nightclub owner from Atlantic City and Philadelphia, and J. Amron, a restaurateur of 30 years experience. They found a giant location and installed paneled and mirrored walls, and for the opening night, they hired Paul Whiteman and 50 beautiful showgirls. The dinners cost $1.50 and $2.00, which was an unheard of price for a restaurant at that time! The opening was a huge success, and thousands were turned away. Finally, note that Murray Korman is mostly known today for his portraits of Hollywood celebrities, but at this time, he was much more famous for his nude or semi-nude photo portraits and his nude or semi-nude paintings of gorgeous women.
