The most beautiful motion picture of the year."; "The Musical that fills the world with love."; "He is a shy schoolmaster. She is a music hall star. They marry and immediately have 283 children... all boys!"; "A new kind of motion picture musical. A love story as timeless as forever"; "Based on the Novel by James Hilton" about a dedicated teacher) starring Peter O'Toole (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Petula Clark (English actress who years later had a highly successful career as a pop singer, best remembered for the song "Downtown"), Michael Redgrave (billed as "Sir Michael Redgrave"), George Baker, and Michael Bryant. Note that there was a 1939 movie based on this same novel (with the same name) starring Robert Donat, but it was not a musical.
