American President Lines was created in 1938 when the U.S. government took over the management of the Dollar Steamship Company (commonly known as the Dollar Line) and transferred their assets to the newly formed American President Lines (so called because the ships were named after American Presidents). Dollar Steamship was founded by Captain Robert Dollar in 1900 and it grew into a large shipping empire, but the Wall Street Crash of 1929 and the later death of Robert Dollar lead to a dire financial situation and the government takeover occurred. The company still operates today as APL and is a subsidiary of French shipping company CMA CGM.

Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good to very good. The front of the calendar has slightly darkened unevenly at bottom (see our images). The pages otherwise have a few creases but are in pretty nice condition.
