An Original Vintage French Exhibitor Magazine (measures 9 1/2" x 12 1/2" [24 x 32 cm]; 114 pages) (Learn More)

La Cinematographie Francaise (literally translates to "French Cinematography") was French exhibitor magazine that was published from 1918 to 1966. It was similar to U.S. exhibitor magazines of the same time period (with illustrated ads for then current movies and stories about then current movies and stars). It was printed on a high quality paper stock, unlike the U.S. magazines, which were mostly printed on cheap pulp paper. We have only auctioned five issues, from 1927, 1931, 1935, 1936, and 1937
Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this specific magazine before, and we have only previously auctioned a total of three different issues of this French exhibitor magazine (surely almost all of them were destroyed during the paper drives of World War II).

Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine (which is very unusual, because it has a die-cut piece attached to it that is a "hat", which advertises the movie printed under it "Chapeau de Paille d'Italie"!) and also pictures of five interior two-page spreads (which includes a wonderful ad for Metropolis with classic Boris Bilinsky art). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine.

Condition: good to very good. The magazine has some paper loss on the spine and there is some light staining around the edges of the cover. The Metropolis page was slightly misaligned when it was bound in, resulting in it being 1/4" above the bottom of the magazine, which means that 1/4" was cut from the top of the page, which cuts off the top of the Bilinsky printed signature in the top right corner, and also the very top right of the "M" of "METROPOLIS". The page also has some small brown stains in the right. We leave it to bidders to decide how important these condition issues are and ask that they look over all our images (but especially the two of the front and back of the Metropolis page) before bidding on this extremely rare magazine.
