Cohan and all of his famous songs."; "The Yankee doodle dandiest entertainment of 'em all!"; "Based on the story of George M. Cohan with the Greatest of all his Great Music"; "Lyrics and Music by George M. Cohan"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about famed Irish-American composer, actor, and Broadway producer George M. Cohan, who wrote the music and the lyrics used in the movie) starring James Cagney (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as George M. Cohan), Joan Leslie, Walter Huston (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as George M. Cohan's father), Richard Whorf, Jeanne Cagney (James Cagney's real life sister, playing George M. Cohan's sister), Frances Langford, George Tobias, Irene Manning, S.Z. Sakall, Walter Catlett, and Rosemary DeCamp (as George M. Cohan's mother) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of the most beloved musicals of all time (and rightfully so), but it had a pretty uninspired ad campaign! Almost all the posters had a headshot image of Cagney wearing a patriotic hat, and just some background design. There is a style A half-sheet with this same layout. But the style B half-sheet poster has a completely different montage image of the characters and scenes from the movie, with a full-length James Cagney in the middle. The poster is very rare, and we have never auctioned it before! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has darkened slightly, typical of Warner Bros. linen posters from this period. It has creases and scuffs on the foldlines, a few pinholes around the edges, and creases, scuffs, and a few small tears in the borders, with a few creases scattered in the image.
