A Belgian Special Poster (measures 13" x 22 1/2" [33 x 57 cm]) (Learn More) Boxe Escrime & Gymnastique (literally translates to "Boxing, Fencing & Gymnastics"), the 1909 Belgian poster (with taglines that translate to "Complete hydrotherapy" and "J. Gillet former Professor at the Paris Boxing School") promoting physical therapy and sports at the Salle des Sports des Bains Gretry in Liege, Belgium. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Ochs Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing shortly after being printed. The purpose was to reinforce the poster, so that it would survive when it was put up on different walls and taken down. Such posters can be professionally removed from the original linen and placed on to a proper linen backing. I have done this to several such posters, and they end up looking wonderful! It has fine creases and some scuffs scattered in various areas (see our image). Given its age it is otherwise in pretty nice condition and if I owned this wonderful boxing poster I would have it removed from the thin linen and have the poster properly linenbacked, after which it would look great!
