An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #4 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Love Me Tender, the 1956 Robert D. Webb Civil War romantic rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) musical ("Mr. Rock 'N' Roll in the story he was born to play!"; "...singin' man ...fightin' man ...lovin' man"; "Based on a story by Maurice Geraghty") starring Richard Egan, Debra Paget, Elvis Presley (billed as "introducing Elvis Presley in his first motion picture"; in his first movie!), Robert Middleton, William Campbell, Neville Brand, Mildred Dunnock, Bruce Bennett, and James Drury. Note that producer Hal Wallis intended the 1957 film "Loving You" to be the first Elvis film. However, six months before the start of production for that project, Wallis loaned Elvis to 20th Century Fox and "Love Me Tender" became his first movie.

Important Added Info: Note that there is an "R" in front of the NSS number in the bottom right corner of the card. But since the movie came out in 1956, and the NSS number is from 1956, we think it is most likely that the "R" stands for "revised" (as has been seen on several other lobby cards and posters of this era). We have been told there are definitely two lobby sets. Both sets have the same scenes, but the cards are numbered differently. It is possible that the movie did so well at the box office that they ran out of lobby cards and printed more that same year and added an "R" to the cards, but that seems less likely, and I have never heard of such "same year" re-release lobby cards. If anyone knows for sure the purpose of the "R", please e-mail us and we will post it here. Please do not bid on this card unless you can accept the uncertainty of what the "R" before the NSS number means! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.
