An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 25" x 37 1/2") (Learn More)

Chaplin: Lost and Found, the 1984 Kino International film festival featuring all existing Charlie (Charles) Chaplin's Keystone, Essanay and Mutual films ("The most complete retrospective of his films ever presented in the U.S."). This poster features art of Chaplin by Page Wood & Beatriz Schiller. Note that Dennis Doros (who produced the series) tells us that Chaplin: Lost and Found was an ambitious series started by Donald Krim at Kino International to show everything of Charlie Chaplin available at that time in 35mm. Many of the Keystone and Essanay films had not been seen in 35mm for many years (there were excellent negatives from the 1920s and 1930s found at Guffanti Labs in New York). The Mutual studio films in 35mm came from David Shepard and Film Preservation Associates/Blackhawk Films. Kino had the rights to the rest of the Chaplin films up to Limelight from the Chaplin Estate. The series opened at the Public Theater (which was why Wood and Schiller were hired) and played in probably seventy-five to a hundred cities at the very least (and was very popular). The success of the series led to the restoration of Queen Kelly and Sadie Thompson.
Artist: Page Wood & Beatriz Schiller
Important Added Info: Note that this one-sheet measures 25" x 37 1/2", but it has not been trimmed.

Condition: very good.
