Elia Kazan creates the Excitement of the year!"; "From a Story by Edna and Edward Anhalt"; about a police captain and a health officer tracking down a killer who was exposed to the bubonic plague) starring Richard Widmark, Paul Douglas, Barbara Bel Geddes, Jack Palance (billed as "Walter [Jack] Palance"; in his film debut), Zero Mostel, Dan Riss, Alexis Minotis, Guy Thomajan, Tommy Cook, and Emile Meyer (he was hired after being spotted by Kazan doing road work!). Note that Widmark has said that Palance was the toughest guy he ever met, and was the only actor he's ever been afraid of. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
