Important Added Info: Note that this is a test photo used to show one of the many costumes that Robert Stack wore during this movie (the stars would put on each costume and stand next to a board with the details of when that costume was used in the movie, and then they would try on a different one and repeat the process, until they had tried on all their costumes; I wonder if major stars of today have to endure this same ritual?). Also note that it is extremely likely that this is a "key book" still, and it is virtually a certainty that the punch holes were put there by the studio at the time the still was created, so they are not a defect.
