Its earlier rival was "Youth's Companion" which was founded 1827. In 1929, the two magazines merged (the Depression was hard on the magazine industry!) and the combined magazine ceased publication in 1941. Each issue had signed cover art by noted illustrators of the day. Artist: Manning de V. Lee Important Added Info: Note that this is solely the cover of the magazine and that it has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the cover was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. Condition: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the magazine cover had minor wear around the edges and water staining in the bottom border, more so in the right. Overall, the magazine cover was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking.
