Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (as Mr. Spock), DeForest Kelley (as Dr. "Bones" McCoy), James Doohan (as Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott), George Takei (as Lieutenant Commander Hikaru Sulu), Walter Koenig (as Chekov), Nichelle Nichols (as Lieutenant Commander Uhura), Majel Barrett, Persis Khambatta (billed as "presenting Persis Khambatta"), Stephen Collins ("as Lt. But there was enough interest built up over the following years that this movie was made in 1979. Three years later, Nicholas Meyer wrote and directed a sequel, "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", which was a giant critical and commercial success, and led to all the many sequels and spin-offs in the years since!
