ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN special poster OR search current auctions Auction History Result 6f0297 ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN 26x35 special poster 1940s -1960s Errol Flynn, please help identify! Date Sold 10/27/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Folded Special Movie Poster (measures 26 1/4" x 35 1/4" [67 x 90 cm]) (Learn More) Adventures of Don Juan (also released as "The New Adventures of Don Juan"), the 1949 Vincent Sherman swashbuckler romantic adventure thriller ("He made history when he made love!"; "Warner Bros. unfolds a new screen era in breathless adventure!"; "Warner Bros. open a new screen era in splendor!"; note that IMDB lists William Faulkner as an uncredited writer for this movie) starring Errol Flynn (in the title role as Don Juan), Viveca Lindfors (as Queen Margaret), Robert Douglas, Alan Hale Sr., Romney Brent, Ann Rutherford, Raymond Burr (early in his career, and 16th billed!), and Jerry Austin (a "little person" who had a tiny role in "Freaks" in 1932, and then made four small movie appearances in the late 1940s). Note that Raymond Burr had appeared in movies a couple of years before this, but always had minor roles, usually playing the "heavy". It would be many years before he would get leading roles (remember him as the killer in "Rear Window"?), but his big break did not come until 1957 when he became TV's "Perry Mason"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster is a mystery to us! It would likely have measured 26 1/4" x 38 3/4" in total, but it has been trimmed and it now measures 26 1/4" x 35 1/4" and a snipe with credits was glued over the lower edge. It uses taglines that we have seen posters from the 1940s use, but also, it is possible (and likely) foreign and possibly from the 1950s or 1960s (from a first release or re-release of this movie in another country) but we are not 100% certain. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. BUT, of course, do not bid on this poster unless you are uncomfortable with all of the above uncertainties. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. The lower edge of the poster has been trimmed and a snipe has been glued over that area. It has creases and tears of varying lengths along portions of the foldlines and edges and some tape stains around the edges (the original tape was not used for any restoration purpose). Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid and please do not bid unless you can accept the defects described above, or you are willing to pay to have them properly restored (or you are uncomfortable with the uncertainty surrounding this poster - see above).
