An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Hungarian Movie Poster (measures 37 1/2" x 49 1/2" [95 x 126 cm]) (Learn More) Du Sollst Keine Anderen Gotter Haben (literally translates to "Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods"), the 1917 Adolf Gartner German silent romantic love triangle music composer melodrama (about a great German composer who has great success in his work, but he neglects his wife and she leaves him; he finds a second much younger wife, but then he repeats the process, and after she leaves him too, he realizes that his true love is his work, and that he is sentenced to spend his entire life alone) starring Albert Bassermann, Elsa Bassermann, Ewald Bruckner, Anni Burg, and Wilhelm Diegelmann. There is a great irony to this movie! Elsa Bassermann plays Albert Bassermann's first wife, and in fact, she was his wife in real life. She also wrote the screenplay for the movie, and one wonders if she didn't base it on their own marriage! It appears this movie was never released in the U.S. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Jozsef Pan Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this poster! Also note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II Hungarian poster! Virtually no Hungarian posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in Hungary during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Condition: good to very good. The poster has spotty slight discoloration mainly in portions of the upper folds and blank borders (see our image). It has some separation and small paper loss at the upper right crossfold and in the crossfolds along the center vertical foldline and someone once accidentally slashed the lower right blank border of the poster with a razor. It has survived in reasonably nice condition given that it is from pre-World War II and is over one hundred years old, and after linenbacking it will be preserved and display quite well.
