An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Block Signal, the 1926 Frank O'Connor silent railroad romantic melodrama ("A thrilling romance of the roaring rails"; "A thrilling railroad romance"; about an aging railroad man who is becoming color blind, and he is having trouble with the railroad signals that are red and green, and a younger man refuses to cover for him, even though he is in love with the older man's pretty daughter) starring Ralph Lewis, Jean Arthur, Sidney Franklin, Hugh Allan, and George Chesebro. Note that between 1910 and 1915 railroads adopted a new system of red and green signals which were much superior to the old system, but they discovered that some railroad men were colorblind, and their careers were ruined! Also note that Jean Arthur had been in a lot of movies since 1923, but this was one of her earlier better roles (and she was second billed). But it was not until the coming of sound that she became a true star! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
