An Undated (probably early 1960s) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French Movie Poster (measures 32" x 47") (Learn More) William Wyler's Roman Holiday, the 1953 William Wyler (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Rome Italy romantic royal-princess-falls-in-love-with-commoner comedy ("Story by Ian McLellan Hunter"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Gregory Peck, Audrey Hepburn (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Eddie Albert (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Hartley Power, Harcourt Williams, Paolo Carlini, and Margaret Rawlings NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this re-release surely dates from the early 1960s as the poster was likely re-released after Hepburn's great success in either "Breakfast at Tiffany's" or "My Fair Lady". Also note that the poster has a great close up image of Peck and Hepburn on the Vespa motor bike they ride in the movie, the only such image I have ever seen on any poster from this movie! Finally, note that this French poster measures 32" x 47" and is linenbacked. Condition: very good. The poster had darkening on all of the foldlines, quite common in French posters of this period. There were tiny areas of paper loss at the crossfolds and some separation and minute paper loss on some of the foldlines. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed. The restorer did not touch the darkened foldline areas, likely feeling that the owner of the poster would prefer to not have the amount of paint on the poster that touching up these areas will require. Of course, if the new owner wished, a restorer could touch up the darkened foldlines without re-backing the poster. Learn More about condition grades
