A 1965 Re-Release Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Old Yeller, the classic 1957 Robert Stevenson Walt Disney family relationship canine dog melodrama ("All the heart, all the excitement of a great frontier adventure!"; "Walt Disney's most dramatic motion picture!"; "Based on the book 'Old Yeller' by Fred Gipson"; about a family whose father has to go off on a cattle drive, leaving a mother and two sons, and the older son has to "take his father's place", and he finds a dog that he initially hates, but grows to love!) starring Dorothy McGuire, Fess Parker, Jeff York, Tommy Kirk, Kevin Corcoran, Beverly Washburn (best remembered for her role in this movie!), Chuck Connors, and Spike (in the title role as "Old Yeller"). Note that Spike, the dog that played the title role, had previously appeared in the low budget B-horror movie "The She-Creature". Oddly, this movie did not lead to major stardom (or even starring roles) for Spike, and while he did appear in a total of 11 movies and TV shows over a 12 year period, none were very memorable, and he retired in 1969! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this 1965 re-release three-sheet, and that was 8 years ago! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, small tears, and tiny paper loss on parts of the folds. The two parts of the poster were taped together, which ran across the Walt Disney credit at center, and there had been tape in that area that caused some paper loss and staining. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Also, after the poster was backed, it was slightly roughly handled, and it acquired some light creases in the upper left and right borders that slightly extend into the edges of the poster. Certainly, a restorer could perform restoration to the defects described above, but bear them in mind before bidding on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
