An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 14 1/2" x 29 1/4" [37 x 74 cm]) (Learn More) Lightnin', the 1925 John Ford silent sentimental family hotel swindling crime romantic comedy ("An Everlasting Monument to American Drama"; "William Fox presents the play that broke the World's Record"; "John Golden's triumph"; "Play by Frank Bacon & Winchell Smith"; "Scenario by Frances Marion"; "'The play that broke the world's record"; from a hit Broadway play, it is a convoluted story of a ne'er-do-well hotel owner on the California/Nevada border who just sits around and spends time with his drinking buddies; some swindlers try to steal the hotel away, and after many complications, during which the hotel owner's wife leaves him, everything works out for the best!) starring Jay Hunt (in the title role as William "Lightnin' Bill" Jones), Madge Bellamy, Ethel Clayton, J. Farrell MacDonald, Edythe Chapman, Brandon Hurst, Wallace MacDonald, Otis Harlan, Richard Travers and James Marcus. Note that Will Rogers remade this silent movie in 1930 as a sound movie, with an entirely different cast, and with Henry King directing. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable find of 143 Argentinean posters from 1926 to 1929 that were recently discovered! They all measure approximately 14 1/4" x 28 1/4", which was one of the two main sizes created for Argentinean movie posters at that time (the other was a poster that measured 29" x 43"). It is likely that prior to this amazing find, there were only a small number of these posters known to exist in the entire world, and after these 143 are auctioned, it is unlikely that there will be many more discovered, even over the coming decades! This is a rare opportunity to purchase an Argentinean poster from the late 1920s, a time when virtually no movie posters from any country are known to exist! Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. There are a few minor patches of slight discoloration scattered in various areas (more so along the foldlines), typical of Argentinean posters of this time period. The lower quarter of the poster has completely separated (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
