An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 10" x 12" [25 x 30 cm] Movie Still (Learn More)

Beau Brummel, the 1924 Harry Beaumont silent England historic biographical romantic love triangle melodrama ("A Romance of the Most Fascinating Figure of Fact or Fancy"; "By arrangement with Mrs. Richard Mansfield"; "Based on the play by Clyde Fitch"; "The greatest of all love dramas"; set in the early 1800s, loosely based on the life of George Bryon Brummell, who was a soldier with a modest inheritance, but he became the favorite of the Prince of Wales, and he rose in English society; he was famous for his stylish fashion sense and his great wit; but it went to his head, and he gambled himself deep into debt, and he fell out of favor with the prince, and he died in debtor's prison from syphilis!) starring John Barrymore ("America's Most Distinguished Actor"; in the title role as George Bryon 'Beau' Brummel), Mary Astor ("as Lady Margery Alvanev"), Willard Louis ("as The Prince of Wales"), Carmel Myers ("as Lady Hester Stanhope"), Irene Rich ("as The Duchess of York"), and Richard Tucker ("as Lord Stanhope"). Note that Mary Astor was just 18 years old when this movie was made! She had been making movies for two years, and had a major success in this movie opposite John Barrymore (Barrymore had requested her to play the female lead), and the 18 year old Mary had an affair with the 42 year old Barrymore. Her parents broke off the affair with Barrymore and virtually kept her a prisoner in their lavish home. Of course, she went on to be a major star of the 1920s through the 1940s.
