Appears in John Wayne Movie Posters at Auction CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Undated (probably 1947) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Blue Steele, the 1934 Robert N. Bradbury robbery cowboy western (in the fifth of fourteen Lone Star Westerns with John Wayne) starring John Wayne, Eleanor Hunt, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Edward Peil Sr., Yakima Canutt, and George Cleveland NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the poster is undated, but it has a litho number, and comparing this number to our massive database of litho numbers taken from actual movie posters, we can determine that this poster is almost certainly from 1947! Apparently, some company in 1947 re-released several or many of the John Wayne Lone Star western films, and instead of doing what most companies did, which was to create a single stock poster for all of them, with blank areas or overprinted titles, this company created a different poster with different design for each of the movies they re-released. To date, we have auctioned posters from a number of the Lone Star titles, and they may well have re-released all of them. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good. folded in half an extra time; slightly diagonal creases and small tears along some of the foldlines and edges from the poster being folded off-center at one time as well as some minor creases, smudges, and scuffs throughout; approximately 1/4" of separation and paper loss in the top crossfold as well as a tiny hole at the middle crossfold and some minor separation at some of the ends of the foldlines; pencil and ink pen writing on the back of the poster that does not appear to have any effect on the front. The poster is in better condition than the above makes it sound! Its defects are relatively minor, and are the type that respond extremely well to restoration. After linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster would look wonderful, and there would be little paint anywhere on the poster! Learn More about condition grades
