'Thou shalt have no other God but me.'") created by the Nazi German-occupying forces to warn the Dutch people of the dangers of the Soviets, and featuring Bernard Partridge art of a Soviet soldier with hammer and bloody sickle, sitting on a throne with broken religious icons crushed under his feet. The artwork comes from the cover of a 1930 issue of Punch magazine. Punch (or, The London Charivari) was a British weekly magazine of humor and satire established in 1841 Artist: Bernard Partridge Important Added Info: Note that this poster measures 34 1/2" x 47", and it was completely folded at one time, but it has been mostly unfolded (solely folded in half) for a long time. We can completely re-fold the poster (which will not harm it) and send it in a small flat package, or we could roll it in a tube while it is folded in half, so it would need to be sent in a tube that measures approximately 25" long. How we send it will depend on what the winning bidder wants, and whether they have flat or rolled items to combine it with. Note that this is one of a remarkable collection of 14 posters that were printed in Holland during World War II while they were occupied by Nazi Germany. They are all propaganda posters designed to sway the Dutch people to support the Nazis and fear the Allies. These posters are surely incredibly rare (since any surviving ones would have likely been destroyed soon after Holland was liberated, and in addition, there were huge paper shortages at this time. We are auctioning the 14 posters in 14 separate auctions. This is an extremely rare opportunity to purchase one or more of these extremely rare posters, which likely should be displayed in museums. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has slight darkening on parts of some folds and some tiny paper loss at some crossfolds. It has a few small tears in the borders. Learn More about condition grades
