An Original 1956 (from the first release of this movie in Germany) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked German Movie Poster (measures 13" x 18 1/4" [33 x 46 cm]) (Learn More) La Strada (released in the U.S. in 1956 as "La Strada [The Road]"), the 1954 Federico Fellini Italian romantic love triangle circus melodrama ("Filmed in Italy - Where it happened! In English!"; Academy Award Winner 'Best Foreign Picture'; about a brutish strongman in a traveling circus, who virtually buys a young woman to work as his assistant, and they have a complicated relationship, which is even more complicated by a handsome trapeze performer they run into) starring Anthony Quinn (billed as "Academy Award Winner Anthony Quinn"), Giulietta Masina, Richard Basehart, Aldo Silvani, Marcella Rovere, Livia Venturini, and Gustavo Giorgi. Note that Fellini had been a screenwriter since 1942 and a director since 1950, with great success, but it was THIS movie which gave him worldwide acclaim and started him on his road to being one of the world's greatest directors. That poster has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still the only example we have ever auctioned! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was folded across the middle and had minor wear on that fold, a pinhole in each corner, and minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking.
