a 1930s Hoot Gibson stock poster. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank area for the title of the film being shown. Sometimes the studio would overprint a stock poster with the title of a specific movie, sometimes they sent a series of paper snipes with titles, and sometimes the theater-owner would just write in the title. By using a stock poster, the theater was getting many posters for the price of one.
