An Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Campaign Book (measures 9" x 11 3/4" [23 x 30 cm]; 34 pages) (Learn More) UFA 1941-42, the 1941 German campaign book sent to theater owners to encourage them to show UFA movies. The book includes 36 pages with one and two page spreads on UFA's upcoming movies and stars. Some of the movies advertised include Die Grosse Liebe and Die goldene Stadt, and some of the stars include: Hans Alber, Zarah Leander, Viktor Staal, Brigitte Horney, and Willy Fritsch. Note that this is the very first time we have ever seen campaign books from UFA from during World War II (we are also offering an incomplete campaign book from 1944/45). Surely, very few of these books were printed, and very few could have survived, thanks to the massive paper shortages in Germany at that time. Note that we do not speak German, so we can't translate the writing on these pages, but there is a 2-page spread at the back of the book, which has a large German eagle pictured with a swastika underneath, and "DIE DEUTSCHE WOCHENSCHAU" beneath it, which means "the German newsreel". There is an introduction on the first interior page, and it concludes with "Heil Hitler!". This is the first time we have seen these words printed in any sort of movie related advertising. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: fair to good. There is one page missing. We can tell because the other page is loose, and there are tiny remnants of the missing page. We would love to know what two movies were advertised on those missing pages, but we have never seen another example of this to compare it to (and we probably never will!). Otherwise, there are many scuffs and stains on the covers, but the other interior pages are in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
