Sadie Thompson, the classic 1928 Raoul Walsh silent South Seas Pago-Pago silent romantic missionary-drawn-to-prostitute-he-hates melodrama ("Based on the story by W. Somerset Maugham") starring Gloria Swanson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Sadie Thompson), Lionel Barrymore, Blanche Frederici, Charles Lane, Florence Midgley, and Raoul Walsh (the great director in an acting role, as Swanson's boyfriend!). Note that this movie was remade as "Rain" in 1932 with Joan Crawford and Walter Huston in the lead roles, and again in 1953 as "Miss Sadie Thompson" starring Rita Hayworth and Jose Ferrer

Condition: fair to good. There is staining, deterioration, and tiny bits of paper loss in the blank borders, and some faint water staining in much of the card. See our super-sized images to get a good sense of the condition of this card. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
