An Original Vintage Paperbacked Magazine Cover (measures 8 3/4" x 11 1/2" [22 x 29 cm]) (Learn More) Good Housekeeping, one of the most famous "women's magazines" ("Every advertisement guaranteed"), which had a unique gimmick, in that EVERY single ad they accepted, the publishers guaranteed that their readers would be satisfied with that product or their money back! This was a huge draw for consumers back in the days when there were many fraudulent companies selling home items that didn't work or broke down quickly, and it made the magazine very popular for many, many years. Each issue features a great full color cover (usually artwork in the early years), plus lots of interior stories about items relating to the home. Also, in every issue are many wonderful vintage ads in black and white or color, and sometimes the ads can be just as much fun as the original stories and pictures. Of course, some of the ads are from movies that were about to open, and in the early days of eBay, people would remove those full-page ads and auction them by themselves, and they would often sell for $10, $20, or more, just for a single ad removed from a magazine just like this! Artist: Jessie Wilcox Smith Important Added Info: Note that this is solely the cover of the magazine and that it has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. Condition: very good. Prior to paperbacking, the magazine cover had smudges, darkening, and minor wear around the edges. Overall, the magazine cover was in very good condition prior to paperbacking. The restorer backed the magazine cover "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the magazine cover).
