What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had creases, small tears, and tiny areas of paper loss scattered down the vertical foldline and a lesser amount on the horizontal folds. There were pinholes in the corners and some tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
