eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result THIS IS AMERICA: MERCHANT SEAMAN 1sheet Appears in War Movie PostersBOOK SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the book we published as shown above. While we once owned this item, we did not auction it through eMoviePoster.com (which is why no price or date is listed) nor do we have it available for purchase. This is America: Merchant Seaman, the 1943 RKO World War II (WWII) Liberty Ship historical naval sailor documentary ("The exciting story of the Liberty tars who man our convoy lifelines"; "Another in the vital new series This is America"; "A new release every four weeks"). Note that Liberty ships were a class of cargo ship built in the United States during World War II. Though British in conception, the design was adapted by the United States for its simple, low-cost construction. Mass-produced on an unprecedented scale, the Liberty ship came to symbolize U.S. wartime industrial output. Also, note that this is one of the "This is America" series of documentary short subjects that was distributed monthly by RKO between 1933 and 1951 (at least). If anyone knows more about this series, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
