Mr. Sanders was a nationally recognized projectionist, film poster collector, and union activist who passed away earlier this year, and the net proceeds from the sale of his varied and eclectic collection will be donated to promote film studies at the Besant School of Happy Valley in Ojai, Ca. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tiny bits of surface paper loss in the top quarter of the vertical foldline and scattered above and below the top horizontal fold, which affected Allyson and Horne's image. It also had paper loss in the top corners and in the top of the left and right borders. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. The poster also acquired a faint water stain in the bottom right corner after it was backed, just touching the edge of the right blank corner.
