An Original Vintage Folded Post World War II Special Poster (measures 11 1/2" x 34" [29 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) Tire Rationing Ends, the 1946 U.S. post-World War II (WWII) poster announcing the end of tire rationing. Rubber rationing went into effect at the start of 1942 and ran to the end of 1945. Local Tire Rationing Boards issued certificates for tires and they were restricted to vehicles for public health and safety, essential trucking and public transportation. Civilians were allowed to keep five tires per automobile and as they had to make five tires last the entire war, they had to be extremely careful. People were encouraged to drive less and use a "Victory Speed" of 35 mph. Everyone was also encouraged to use public transportation or share rides ("When you ride alone, you ride with Hitler!"). If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has light fold and border wear and some minor edge defects but overall it is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
