An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More) Song of the Eagle, the 1933 Ralph Murphy post-Prohibition alcohol drinking crime thriller ("The tense, gripping story of your generation!"; about a family that owns a brewery after Prohibition is repealed, and how they fight mobsters who want to take it away from them) starring Charles Bickford, Richard Arlen, Mary Brian, Jean Hersholt, Louise Dresser, and Andy Devine NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this movie is a crime thriller depicting a family attempting to keep their family brewery out of the hands of mobsters. But the poster designer either did not know the plot of the movie, or didn't care, and they illustrated this window card with a great image of a monster bird over a metropolitan area trying to pluck up some of the scared people (perhaps they were trying for a metaphor for what the movie was about!). In any case, I would think there were a lot of confused moviegoers who saw this poster and then saw the movie, and wondered where the gigantic eagle was! Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (except somewhat heavier). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards, and lobby cards. Condition: fair to good. The card had its blank top trimmed off, slightly below the top edge of the background. There were tears and areas of paper loss around the edges of the card and many smudges, pinholes, stains, and tears scattered in the image. Someone paperbacked the card and did the slightest of amateur restoration to the above defects, but they are still noticeable (but the great image of this card can still be enjoyed). Please do not bid on this card unless you have read the above and have carefully studied our super-sized image! Learn More about condition grades
