Date Sold 10/1/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. a lot of 17 Charles Kerlee signed and matted oversize stills (the stills range in size from 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" to 11" x 14", each matted display measures 14" x 18"). These stills were matted by the photographer himself, who signed most of them on the mat under the photo, and sometimes wrote the name of the person pictured (see our images for exactly which ones have what). Charles Kerlee was a 1930s Hollywood photographer, and when the U.S. entered World War II, he was asked by Edward Steichen to join a newly created Naval unit of photographers who would join the Navy, but solely to take pictures for the government of battles and other events that would be of interest to people back home! These photos were mostly taken in the early 1930s, and some are dated by his signature. We do not provide a list of these items, but there are images of all of them.
