eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 1e412 CURLY TOP German program '35 great different images of cute Shirley Temple & John Boles! Date Sold 3/31/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage German Film Program (measures 8 3/4" x 11 1/2" [22 x 29 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) Curly Top, the 1935 Irving Cummings orphan juvenile musical melodrama starring Shirley Temple ("She Sings, She Dances, She Charms"), John Boles, Rochelle Hudson, Jane Darwell, and Rafaela Ottiano. Note that this movie was based on a play and novel by Jean Webster from 1912. It was made into a silent movie in 1919 starring Mary Pickford, and was remade as a sound film in 1931 with Janet Gaynor, and then was significantly altered so that Shirley Temple could play the lead in this movie, and then was remade with Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron in 1955. Obviously, it is extremely unlikely that this plot will ever be used again, because in today's world, a story about a middle aged man falling in love with an 18 year old that he "adopts" is very inappropriate! Also note that this was the last movie Shirley Temple made for Fox Films. Her next movie was made after it merged with 20th Century Pictures, and became 20th Century-Fox. During that time, Fox's number one star, Will Rogers died in a plane crash, and surprisingly, Shirley Temple became the studio's new number one star! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have provided an image of four of the pages of this 8-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and two of the interior pages together). You can see the four of the eight pages, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image, but realize that there are four pages you are not seeing. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended). Note that on January 6th of this year we auctioned a mostly single owner collection of 551 German and Austrian programs, that included many rare and wonderful titles, but now we have been consigned (from a new consignor) 128 German and Austrian programs which include some programs that are duplicates of ones we auctioned on January 6th, but which also includes a large number of programs which we have never auctioned before, including many rare and wonderful titles (especially super-rare pre-World War II titles from both countries, and some scarce titles from during World War II and from immediately after)! If you have the slightest interest in these, be sure to look over all of the 128 programs we are currently offering. We promise you won't be disappointed! Condition: good to very good. The program was folded in half and there are some creases and scuffs along that fold. Learn More about condition grades
