An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Photobusta Movie Poster (pbusta; measures 19 1/2" x 27 1/2" [50 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) Il Segno di Venere (released in the U.S. as "The Sign of Venus"), the 1955 Dino Risi Italian family relationship cousins romantic comedy (about a woman who desperately wants to find a husband, and her gorgeous cousin is fighting men off all the time; De Sica plays a poor elderly poet desperately scheming to get money) starring Sophia Loren, Vittorio De Sica, Alberto Sordi, Franca Valeri, Raf Vallone, Virgilio Riento, and Peppino de Filippo. Note that this movie was one of Sophia Loren's first starring roles (after many small or uncredited roles), but it came out before "Boy on a Dolphin", the first movie that made her known to American audiences. Poster material on it from any release is extremely rare, and it appears that it was never released in the U.S. at all, which is surprising, because one would think it would have at least been released after she became a major star! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Franco Fiorenzi Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare "country of origin" photobusta for this Italian movie. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning, and we have only auctioned one other different photobusta (16 years ago) and a one-panel poster a decade ago, but NO other Italian movie paper from it whatsoever (and the one-panel only showed the male star, and the photobusta showed a much lesser image of Loren)! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good. There is light water staining over parts of the upper right of the poster, but it much more shows in the borders than in the image. It also has pinholes in the corners. The poster is a good candidate for restoration, but it could be displayed just as it is. Learn More about condition grades
