Date Sold 7/9/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A Linenbacked Special Poster (measures 33" x 43 1/4" [84 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) Alcohol, the 1929 school classroom educational chart ("Characteristic actions of alcohol, solvent and dehydrant. Useful outside the body on inanimate objects. Harmful inside the body"; "Disguised as beer, wine, whiskey"; "Effects on living tissue: Narcotic, Dissolves Lipoid. Retards Important Functions. Poison. Dehydrates Cell Protoplasm. Habit Forming.") printed by the Denoyer-Geppert Co. of Chicago as part of the Winslow Health & Hygiene Series, and featuring art of several alcohol-related objects as well as a partial "visible man" showing the various systems of the human body. Note that the Denoyer-Geppert Co. primarily focused on creating maps and globes, but also branched out into classroom educational charts. They sold their cartography assets to Rand McNally in 1984 but still create biology sculptures to this day. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this poster! Note that this poster ships in a very long tube (at least 33" long, but possibly 50" long or more). Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. You can tell how long of a tube this poster needs to ship in by looking at the shorter dimension of its length and width and then adding 4" to that (so a 47" x 63" poster will need to ship in a 51" long tube). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded, but it had many faint creases and faint stains scattered throughout. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. It appears the poster was pretty much backed "as is". The creases and faint stains are not that distracting, and they do serve to make it clear this is a vintage poster, but do not bid on it unless you can accept these defects.
