Date Sold 11/12/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage 2 3/4" x 4 1/2" [7 x 11 cm] Photo (Learn More) Five of a Kind, the 1938 Herbert I. Leeds quintuplets family relationship comedy ("They Sing! They Dance! They Act! They Make Music!"; "They dance They sing They make music!") starring the Dionne Quintuplets (Cecile Dionne, Yvonne Dionne, Annette Dionne, Emilie Dionne, and Marie Dionne), Jean Hersholt, Claire Trevor, Cesar Romero, Slim Summerville, Henry Wilcoxon, Inez Courtney, John Qualen, Jane Darwell, and Pauline Moore. Note that this was the quintuplet's third movie! Of course, their story was tragic, as the Ontarian government seized the five girls, making them wards of the state, and profited from them by making them a tourist attraction! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in October of 2017, we auctioned a wonderful collection of 27 photos (most measured 3.5x5.25, but some measured slightly smaller) that were taken by a man who worked at a large movie theater in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He created wonderful theater fronts and homemade posters (some that were displayed outside the theater and some inside the theater), and after he finished making his displays, he would take a picture of each and then he put them in a scrapbook. Collectors rightfully bid aggressively on these photos, and all but 4 auctioned for more than $20 each, and 7 sold for $100 or more, with two selling for over $300 each! Now we are offering another 27 photos from this amazing scrapbook! We auctioned many of the best titles in the first group, but there are a number of equally interesting titles in this group. After this, there will be just a few more theater front photos left to auction from the scrapbook, so for the most part, this is the last chance to acquire these very rare to find photos of original theater fronts and local theater displays from this time period. Each of the 27 photos is in a separate auction with this paragraph on them. Condition: good to very good. There are smudges and some stains in the blank borders. The photo was stapled and glued to an album page, and there are staple holes in the corners and glue stains on the back, but they do not affect the front (see our images).
