John McCain was an American politician and former Navy pilot from the 1950s to the 2010s. McCain served in the Vietnam War, where he was injured, captured, and tortured for over five and a half years. He was the Republican presidential nominee in the 2008 United States election and was also Senator for the state of Arizona. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 81 from brain cancer.
