An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Jumbo Lobby Card (measures 14" x 17") (Learn More) Redemption, the 1930 Fred Niblo Russia romantic love triangle melodrama (partially based on the play 'The Living Corpse' by Leo Tolstoy; about a Russian man who is basically no good, and he seduces a good woman, marries her, and then after she is pregnant and has a baby, he leaves her for his old gypsy girlfriend, and then he appears to be drowned, which frees her up to marry a good man she has met, but then it turns out her crappy husband is not dead after all) starring John Gilbert (this was his first speaking role, but it was released after "His Glorious Night"), Renee Adoree, Conrad Nagel, Eleanor Boardman, and Claire McDowell. Note that Tolstoy's source play borrowed heavily from Thomas Hardy's "Far from the Madding Crowd", which had been written 25 years earlier, but of course, this plot (about a husband returning from the dead) is very commonly used in movies.
