Date Sold 8/21/2008Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 10" x 13" Movie Still (Learn More) The Courtship of Andy Hardy, the 1942 George B. Seitz romantic "Andy Hardy family" comedy ("New joy in 1942's first Hardy hit!"; one of the series of "Hardy Family" movies about Andy Hardy, his judge father, and the rest of his family; note that, in the first entries of this series, the judge father and his wife were the center of the movies, and the children had secondary roles, but Mickey Rooney's character quickly became extremely popular, and became the focus of the series) starring Lewis Stone (as Judge Hardy), Mickey Rooney (in the title role as Andy Hardy), Cecilia Parker, Fay Holden, Ann Rutherford, Sara Haden, and Donna Reed (in her fourth credited role!). Note that Donna Reed received 7th billing (and smaller than the main stars) because she was so new to movies, but she actually played the romantic lead, the shy daughter of a divorcing couple, who Andy tries to help come out of her shell by romancing her! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still shows a great candid image of Lewis Stone & Fay Holden relaxing on the set of the movie! Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. This was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby (and of course, the snipe would be folded backwards, so it would not show). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! Condition: very good. There are light stains and tiny areas of paper loss in the left border, but otherwise, the still is in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
